With the intention of somewhat localizing, I'm is studying at Wavelab Studios, playing out with a number of fantastic friends and musicians here (see joenovelli.com for shows backing up other folks), and doing the Marvin thing with the help of fantastic Tusconians Gabriel Sullivan and Geoffrey Hidalgo rounding out the band (Marvin continues on as spiritual advisor, of course). This may in fact form a new and different band, leaving the "Marvin" Moniker to represent my solo performances with Marvin...we'll see. Anyhow...catch our shows, listed to the right, and look for a couple more recordings to be finished soon. And say howdy! -Joe 1.24.2013

You probably know her from being awesome, or being the queen of Harrisburg, or singing and playing a multitude of instruments with the Mynabirds. Either way, she's rad, and we're going to have lots of fun, and zippity zip around the East and midwest for a hot minute. Look to the right for tour dates. It was a blast. I'm tired! Now only another month of road-dogging before the paradise of a whole month pounding nails in VT. And so far nobody has been swept off to heaven or hell and the world still seems to tick right along. So that's good. We'll keep on a'planning and a'playing. Spring has sprung, thankfully. And so far nobody has been swept off to heaven or hell and the world still seems to tick right along. So that's good. We'll keep on a'planning and a'playing. We did a spread of terribly fun shows over the last month -- met some fantastic new folks and new towns, and got to kick it with our favorites here, there and everywhere.

Now we're in lull for a spell as Joe plays about with various folks: Saint Bernadette this week, Jennie Lowe Stearns this weekend, Gabriel Miller Phillips and Emily Arin the week following ... but snuck in there will be a smattering of M&TCW shows in NYC, Philly, maybe our new favorite town Harrisburg. And then Joe will be gearing up for another mammoth summer of touring (see Joe's Page for updates on all of that). But, with any luck, before that starts we'll set up another run down to Lexington and back to do a spot of recording with the wonderful gents of These United States.

So I'll document our travels with my usual ramblings and bitings. Yesterday we had lunch with Uncle Stevesy (creator of the legendary <a href="http://www.novelliguitars.com/specialty_guitars.htm">Astral Slide Guitar) in Knoxville, then bumbled along to Memphis for a late evening bite of BBQ (and BB Kings, as pictured below). Columbus and the wondrous Jacobs family (and Joe's raygun--check out pics of it at their shop's site: <a href="http://thetrainyardteahouse.blogspot.com/">The Trainyard Teahouse) were fantastic...Rocknrolling, hangin in the park, making sushi, and creating the raygun whilst watching Teen Wolf, Big Trouble in Little China, and Revenge of the Nerds...HECK YEAH! Here I am eating Joe and Lexx for good measure....for teeth do make a fine framing of things. And next up: Chicago was grrrrrrand thanks in large part to Collin and Kat ... check out this Delorian sitting idly by in a coffee-shop...go Marty go!   And then we bolted to Minneapolis for a rowsingly bon-a-fied Palmerizing 2 days in a row! (anybody who knows Palmers bar and how kindly they are to their musicians know what a richly Jameson soaked couple days it makes for). Kicked back with are good friends at Half Door records, touring buddies Poverty Hash, celebrated Cyn Collins Birthday with a buncha great bands (check out <a href="http://www.hastings3000.com/officialwebsite.cfm">Hastings 3000 for he's rad)...and even got to spend an extra day in town watching fantasy movies with great friends due to a blizzard / poorly organized art collective venue shows. Then on to Kansas City where Lee's Summit was not the hottest sunday night ticket, but we played with a great band called <a href="http://www.spousemusic.com/">Spouse from the northeast, and ended up playing to a bunch of LA actors / film folks after their wrap party, who were a riot, and bought a ton of our crappo burnt cds (GAS!). Then another botched art collective show (come-on now! our generation has the tools to be the most well-organized, artistically successful yet...only a good bit of lazyness / lameness to blame for day of show-cancelations when bands are touring far and wide on nary a shoe-string). But that's all well and good because it inspired us to go do a day off's work with Joe's uncle Stevesy, who builds the Astral Slide guitars, and is pretty much the sole reason for Joe's musical livelyhood (GO CHECK OUT <a href="http://www.novelliguitars.com/">Novelli Guitars!!!!)...hung with the Hammer window washing crew a bit, who rock...then met up with some of our best buds <a href="http://www.onlylivingboy.com/">Only Living Boy to galavant together around the southeast for a few days...having a good old time in no small way in Asheville's best new rock n roll dive bar t<a href="http://www.facebook.com/pages/West-Asheville-NC/The-Get-Down/118631928177372">he Get Down (which we've all been needing in that town for long long long time), and the good ol' pres pub in knoxville, allan and patti's wondrous lil' establishment in Morristown <a href="http://www.thedowntown.net/">(the DownTown), and Snug Harbor in Charlotte....a damn fine weekend with over-done glorious nights to spare and some of our favorite people in the world. My hunger was cropping up again round asheville, and i sought to prove that hippies do really taste better by eating a few and documenting it, but none were to be found when the hunger pang struck--who woulda thought in asheville there could be no proper hippie youngsters readily available for a light munching? So instead this here Vance monument was settled on, for no obelisk, large or small, is a match for these jaws. I will swoop down from the heavens and take you out!   Anyhow...we played athens which was ghostly quiet but the bartender Casey was a real sweetheart. And then we Rocked out in Birmingham to a spare Thanksgiving week Tuesday crowd...but those who were there were great...one of the nicest sound-fellows yet (hope your kid's better today Danny!)...and a fantastically perfect Rock dive called the Nick where just about everybody and their mom has played at some point. And now to the hot heavy wet brilliant beast of a city that is New Orleans...at the same time our most worldy, and somehow most viscerely American city. Then on to Kansas City where Lee's Summit was not the hottest sunday night ticket, but we played with a great band called Spouse from the northeast, and ended up playing to a bunch of LA actors / film folks after their wrap party, who were a riot, and bought a ton of our crappo burnt cds (GAS!). Then another botched art collective show (come-on now! our generation has the tools to be the most well-organized, artistically successful yet...only a good bit of lazyness / lameness to blame for day of show-cancelations when bands are touring far and wide on nary a shoe-string). But that's all well and good because it inspired us to go do a day off's work with Joe's uncle Stevesy, who builds the Astral Slide guitars, and is pretty much the sole reason for Joe's musical livelyhood (GO CHECK OUT Novelli Guitars!!!!)...hung with the Hammer window washing crew a bit, who rock...then met up with some of our best buds Only Living Boy to galavant together around the southeast for a few days...having a good old time in no small way in Asheville's best new rock n roll dive bar the Get Down (which we've all been needing in that town for long long long time), and the good ol' pres pub in knoxville, allan and patti's wondrous lil' establishment in Morristown (the DownTown), and Snug Harbor in Charlotte....a damn fine weekend with over-done glorious nights to spare and some of our favorite people in the world. My hunger was cropping up again round asheville, and i sought to prove that hippies do really taste better by eating a few and documenting it, but none were to be found when the hunger pang struck--who woulda thought in asheville there could be no proper hippie youngsters readily available for a light munching? So instead this here Vance monument was settled on, for no obelisk, large or small, is a match for these jaws. I will swoop down from the heavens and take you out!

Anyhow...we played athens which was ghostly quiet but the bartender Casey was a real sweetheart. And then we Rocked out in Birmingham to a spare Thanksgiving week Tuesday crowd...but those who were there were great...one of the nicest sound-fellows yet (hope your kid's better today Danny!)...and a fantastically perfect Rock dive called the Nick where just about everybody and their mom has played at some point. And now to the hot heavy wet brilliant beast of a city that is New Orleans...at the same time our most worldy, and somehow most viscerely American city. Love it...until next!!

Just kidding...I mostly eat large inanimate objects, being one myself... Only in Ithaca, or Trumansburg specifically, can we show up at 11:30 PM when a gig elsewhere has been canceled and get to have a fantastic birthday night with our closest friends, see some fantastic music (Songs for Lovers), catch our little cousin's birthday in the AM and still make it to a dive rock bar show in Columbus that night. Fantastic 24 hours. and Joe's got a ray gun coming. oh now Trumansburg on a nice cool morning after our dear friend zug's birthday...nothing like the Falls Tavern to quell the ailing stomach...the Tavern with perhaps a side of Kennedy.
